~ In June of 2007 while roving the line of vendors at the Mt. Airy Fiddlers Convention I stopped into the Buckeye Banjos booth being overseen by the builder Greg Galbreath. I picked up one of his banjos and had trouble putting it back down. To be honest I'm mostly a fan of the old Vegas but this instrument had a sound all its own - a very dry plunk with lots of low end but plenty of clarity and volume as well. When I could get myself to stop playing it for a moment I took a closer look and found it to be fine workmanship - carefully crafted, with a very tasteful melding of old school lines and proportions and Greg's own personal touches. I broke down and purchased it and can happily report that the price was very reasonable for an instrument of this quality and sound.
