Banjo #120:  This 12" walnut banjo was a prototype for an upcoming commision, so I used the opportunity to try several new design elements.  At last falls Banjo Collector's Gathering I was lucky enough to see Jim Bollman's' amazing banjo collection and the brass peghead overlay was inspired by one of his banjos.  The brass heel cap was inspired by the late 19th century Cleveland maker J. French.  The rim on this banjo is thin (3/8"), but deep (3") and the neck contains a carbon fiber reinforcment bar instead of my standard steel bar.  All of this combined with a Rosewood tone ring, skin head and 25" scale give this banjo an incredible sound - with steel strings it is surprisingly lively but with a nice woody character and with nylon strings it is wonderfully plunky.

Banjo #119:  This beautifully simple 12" walnut banjo features a slotted peghead, rolled brass tone ring and a Renaissance head.

Banjo #118:  Affectionately dubbed the "Atomic Banjo", this blond, 11" curly maple banjo was designed to evoke the 1950's atomic era, and is ornamented with a large rocket, starbursts, boomerangs and an atomic symbol.  It also posesses a bracket band, skin head and a Tubaphone tone ring which give it a clean, crisp, super bright sound.

Banjo #117:  This wonderful sounding 12" curly maple banjo features simple engraved ornaments, rolled brass tone ring, a skin head and darker than nomal stain.

Banjo #100: While trying to decide on what do do for my 100th banjo, which I wanted to be special, I recieved an unusual request for a highly ornamented banjeaurine with an extended fretboard, and it seemed like the perfect match.  Banjeaurines were popular at the end of the 19th century and have short 19 5/8" scales and are tuned four half steps above standard G tuning.  The engraved inlay is based on an old Cole pattern and definitely put my engraving skills to the test.

Banjo #116:  This 11" walnut banjo was a special commission and is my interpretation of Richie Sterns' Dobson banjo.  Based on measurements and photos of Richie's banjo, but allowing myself some creative license, this was the result.  It features a thin (3/8") rim that is only 2 1/2" deep, a dramatically angled, classic, square Dobson peghead, Dobson tone ring, and large Waverly tailpiece.  These elements combined to create an easy playing, wonderful sounding banjo with lots of punch and clarity.

Banjo #115:  This 11" walnut banjo features curly maple binding, elegant abalone inlays, brass scoop plate with the owners initials, and a extra deep 3" pot which gives it a booming low end.

Banjo #114:  This 12" fretless curly maple banjo is elegantly simple with its only ornamentaion being a small flower in the scoop.  It also has a Whyte Laydie tone ring which gives it a powerful sound for a fretless.

Banjo #113:  This 12" Black Walnut banjo has a rolled brass tone ring and a goat skin head and is ornamented with an engraved elephant in the peghead along with a classic nautical star at the fifth.  It also features my new brass hardware.

Banjo #112:  This 12" curly maple banjo features a classic scroll in the peghead and some of the most incredibly figured wood I've seen in a long time.

Banjo #111:  This 11" maple banjo is the second instrument I've made using ornamentaion based on the childrens book The Little Prince. 

Banjo #110:  This 12" curly maple banjo features a brass scoop plate with the owners name and a Liver bird in the peghead representing the city of Liverpool, England where the owner lives.

Banjo #109:  This 12" curly maple banjo has a German Silver fretboard plate and floral inlays inspired by the work of Karl Blossfeldt as well as some late 19th century advertising engravings.

Banjo #108:  This 11 13/16" Little Wonder conversion features classic engraved nautical stars and engraved diamond position markers.

Banjo #107:  This 12" walnut banjo has a slotted peghead, engraved nautical star and dots, brass scoop plate and the protypes for my new brass hardware.

Banjo #106:  The engaved ornaments on this 12" curly maple banjo were inspired by an old Fairbanks pattern.  The skin head and 25" scale give it a wonderful sound and playability.

Banjo #105:  This 12" curly maple banjo features an elegant backstrap and intricate Orpheum inspired inlays.

Banjo #104:  This 12" curly maple banjo was a wedding present and features several interesting inlays - a moonshine jug, a plum branch, a blue crab and a celtic knot.  

Banjo #103:  This elegant 12" highly figured maple banjo features a skin head, Whyte Laydie tone ring, scroll inlay in the peghead, and long backstrap.  

Banjo #102:  This 12" walnut banjo has a Fiberskyn head and rolled brass tone ring and features numerous scroll inlays in an original design.

Banjo #101: This 12" walnut slot head banjo features streaked ebony, brass hardware, skin head, and brass scoop plate.

Banjo #099:  In addition to its skin head and brass hardware this 12" highly figured maple banjo features lots of custom options.  It has a one piece neck, Boucher style scroll peghead with a hand carved "beehive", geared Peghed tuners and a brass scoop plate.

Banjo #098:  This 12" maple, half fretless banjo features brass hardware, a brass fingerboard plate and an engraved fish ornament at the 12th.

Banjo #097: This 11" walnut banjo features elegant scroll inlays and the combination of a Whyte Laydie tone ring and a Renaissance head give it a crisp, powerful sound.

Banjo #096:  This 11" maple features a skin head, brass hardware and scoop plate, Macassar ebony, and Cole style engraved ornaments.

Banjo #095:  This elegant 12" walnut banjo features a German Silver plate and two-toned nautical star made of gold and white mother-of-pearl in the scoop.  This instrument also has a rosewood tone ring which gives it a wonderful woody tone and a Renaissance head which give it plenty of punch as well. 

Banjo #094:  This 12" curly maple banjo features a stylized flower on the peghead and little ladybug comprised of gold and black mother-of-pearl at the fifth.

Banjo #093:  This 12"' banjo-guitar features a beautiful curly maple neck and engraved sun in the peghead.  The Whyte Ladie tone ring combined with the skin head give it a wonderful sound.

Banjo #091:  This 12", highly figured, curly maple banjo features numerous custom designed scroll inlays along with an long elegant backstrap.

Banjo #088: This 12" fretless walnut banjo features brass hardware combined with aged nickel tuners, simple inlay and a goat skin head.  It also has purpleheart laminations down the center of the neck and under all the ebony trim and a slightly wider than normal fingerboard.
